Travelling can be stressful, especially when you’ve got to survive the stress of getting through the airport. In this blog, our Gatwick Airport hotel shares 5 top travel tips to help you have a relaxing trip, no matter where your destination may be.

Make sure your luggage is compliant with regulations

No-one wants to get held up at airport security but there is a chance this will happen if you don’t double-check your hand luggage. As everyone well knows, there are a number of restricted items which are prohibited on aircraft. For instance, any liquid must be under 100ml and sharp objects are not allowed (tweezers and scissors). If you bring a prohibited item with you, you will risk getting it confiscated or being stopped at security. Check out Gatwick Airport’s ‘Security Advice’ before you fly to be safe.

Check-in online to save time

Organisation is key when it comes to travelling. There are a number of things you can do in advance to save time and ensure your airport experience runs smoothly. One of which is checking in online, this will mean that you won’t need to wait in a long queue when you arrive at the airport. Make sure you have your boarding pass and passport to hand when in the airport, as you will need them at several points when checking in and out.

Arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare

It seems like a pretty obvious thing but it really is vital to arrive at the airport not just on time, but with plenty to spare. No good comes from rushing, think Home Alone when Kevin gets left behind, so it’s best to plan ahead and have a couple of hours to relax. If you’re travelling from Gatwick Airport, why not Stay & Fly with us? With parking from as little as £4 a day, you can rest easy in our comfortable hotel before jetting away on your jollies.

Exchange your money in advance

Usually, you can get better exchange rates if you do it in advance. This means you will have more money to spend on holiday and it’s one less thing to remember when you arrive at the airport. However, if you happen to forget Gatwick Airport does have travel shops where you can exchange your money into the right currency.

Bring books, films and music with you

Once you’ve checked in, there isn’t much to do other than wait for your gate to open. So to beat the boredom we suggest bringing a book or downloading a film onto your iPad beforehand. In addition, Gatwick Airport is full of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops so you could grab a drink or go for a bite to eat before your flight!

Holiday Inn Express Gatwick Crawley Reviews

Dean,

Absolutely fantastic hotel... Booked it as a package, a very economical package with Purple Parking via Holiday Extras on our way to California via Gatwick Airport. One of the cleanest, hassle free hotels I have ever stayed in and I completely, 100% will recommend them to anyone travelling via Gatwick and will certainly use this hotel again myself. Breakfast was awesome, just what we needed to set us up for our 10 hour flight.

Angela,

Southampton

We stayed here before our flight to Crete and got a Hotel & Parking package. It was easy to find, the staff were very efficient & friendly and we had a ground floor room, which was lovely & clean. Overall a nice relaxing stay before our trip, we would definitely stay again.

This hotel was lovely and had a lovely vibe as lots of the holiday customers were excited . The hotel staff were very chatty and friendly. We arrived at the hotel too late for food but were told we could get sandwiches made up. However, we were shattered so we didn't bother taking up this generous offer. Our room was lovely and had complementary free WiFi so the kids were happy. We left our car at the hotel for a week which was secure and looked after. When we returned at 2am the following week, the staff were just as lovely and helpful. We were very happy with the service and we look forward to doing it all again next year.

Just stayed in the Holiday Inn Express at Crawley before flying out of Gatwick Airport. We booked our stay via APH car parks. We had a really good stay and the hotel had nice, clean and modern rooms with a good comfy bed. We had the added bonus of a breakfast included & check in was nice and simple with overnight parking. Well worth it to be nice and fresh for the airport.

Stayed at Holiday Inn Express Crawley for 3 nights during an in-between London/Brighton break. The breakfast was good and had a variety of foods on offer. The hotel was very clean as were the bathroom/bedrooms!

Harvey,

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Crawley and paid for the Stay & Park package as we had an early flight the next day. I have stayed here on business before, however I forgot how good it was. Quick check in and everything was clean. We had dinner at the bar and the food was excellent, I could not fault a thing. Worth every penny!

Victoria,

Norwich

We originally booked for one night but decided to extend our stay for another night. The staff were extremely helpful and only charged us the same rate for the second night as the first. The Hotel reception and lounge (where breakfast is) is lovely and modern. The rooms are clean and well designed and we couldn't hear any noise from the airport or roads. Breakfast was good and it wasn't too busy. Overall a nice hotel that's good value for money.

We picked this hotel again to park the car during our holiday and stay overnight when we got back as our flight did not arrive until early morning. 1st class service, excellent value and very helpful staff. Would highly recommend this hotel.
